What’s included in the price
- A free visit, quote and colour consultation
- Collection of your doors and drawer fronts, which are prepared and sprayed at our dust-free workshop
- Dust-free sanding and careful in-place finishing of the fixed parts — frames, end panels and anything that can’t be removed
- Specialist paint designed for kitchens, colour matched to Dulux, Farrow & Ball, Little Greene, Edward Bulmer or any swatch you give us
- Refitting, fitting new handles if you’re changing them, and a full tidy-up
The whole job takes about 5 days, with only 2 afternoons of disruption in your home — and you can use your kitchen the same day. (More on that in how long a kitchen respray takes.)
What makes the price go up or down
1. The number of doors and drawer fronts
This is the biggest factor. Each door and drawer front is prepared and sprayed on both sides, so the count drives most of the cost.
2. The style of door
Flat slab doors are quicker to prepare than shaker or in-frame doors, which have more edges and corners to sand and spray.
3. The surface you’re starting from
Most manufactured finishes can be sprayed — varnished wood, melamine, MDF and most previously painted surfaces. Gloss finishes and failed DIY paint need more preparation first, which can add time. We’ll tell you at the quote stage. (See which kitchens can be resprayed.)
4. Repairs
Chips, water-swollen edges or peeling finishes near the oven and sink are repaired before spraying. A few small repairs are normal; lots of damage adds time.
5. Extras
Islands, dressers, larder units, cornice and new handles all add to the job — and they’re also where a respray makes the biggest visual difference.
Respray vs a new kitchen
A new fitted kitchen means new units, worktops, fitting, plumbing, electrics and making good — and usually weeks without a working kitchen. A respray keeps everything that already works (the layout, the worktops, the appliances) and changes what you see. That’s why it typically costs up to 75% less, and why it’s the environmentally responsible choice too.
If you’re weighing up the options, our guide to respraying vs new doors vs vinyl wrap goes through each one honestly.
Why the cheapest quote can cost more
The price of a respray is mostly preparation. There are sprayers who don’t degrease properly, skip the primer, or use ordinary trade paint — and the finish starts chipping around the handles within months. Poor preparation seriously shortens the life of a resprayed kitchen. When you compare quotes, ask each company:
- What paint system do you use, and is it designed for kitchens?
- Are the doors sprayed in a workshop or in my kitchen?
- How do you prepare the surfaces before spraying?
- What happens if the paint gets damaged?
For the record: if anything does get damaged after we’ve finished, we come back and put it right free of charge.
