How Long Does a Kitchen Respray Take?

About 5 days in total — with only 2 afternoons of disruption in your home.

Duck-egg island kitchen with breakfast bar and pendant lights, resprayed in Hampshire

Short answer: about 5 days from start to finish, with only 2 afternoons of disruption in your home. You can use your kitchen the same day.

Compare that with a new fitted kitchen, which can mean weeks of builders, dust and takeaways. A respray is quick because we keep everything that already works — the units, the worktops, the appliances — and only change what you see.

How the week works

First afternoon: doors off

We arrive, protect your worktops and floor, and remove the doors and drawer fronts. They come back with us to our workshop near Botley. Your cupboards stay usable without their doors.

Workshop days: preparation and spraying

This is where most of the work happens — out of your home. Each door and drawer front is cleaned, degreased, repaired where needed, sanded, primed and sprayed with specialist kitchen paint in our dust-free workshop.

In your home: the fixed parts

Frames, end panels and anything that can’t be removed are masked, sanded dust-free and finished in place, so everything matches perfectly.

Second afternoon: back together

We refit the doors and drawers, fit your new handles if you’re changing them, adjust everything, and tidy up — leaving the kitchen ready to use.

Can I use my kitchen during a respray?

Yes — you can use it the same day. The paint takes a few weeks to cure fully, so for the first couple of weeks:

  • Wipe with a soft damp cloth rather than scrubbing
  • Avoid abrasive cleaners and scourers
  • Try not to hang wet tea towels over the doors

Once cured, the paint resists all but the hardest knocks — and if anything does get damaged, we’ll come back and put it right free of charge.

What can make it take longer?

  • Very large kitchens, or extras like an island, dresser or larder units
  • Lots of repairs, or a failed previous paint job that needs taking back first (see fixing a failed DIY painted kitchen)
  • Waiting for new handles to arrive — choose them early and we’ll fit them on the second afternoon

We work predominantly in Hampshire

We’re a local, family-run team based near Botley, so most of our kitchens are in Hampshire and just over its borders — Winchester, Southampton, Eastleigh, Chandler’s Ford, Hedge End, Romsey, Andover, Basingstoke, Alton, Petersfield, Fareham, Waterlooville and the villages in between.
